I act as a collaborator using found textiles and objects such as hand-stitched table cloths and decorative linens. The colour palette, stitching decisions and size are determined by the original embroiderer, to which I respond. I maintain the decorative tradition of the original textile evolving the ideas of femininity and the ornamental. The stitching I add is not removed from its ancestor; instead the embroidered images collide and converge to create a new functioning piece. This creates playful juxtapositions which generates jarring narratives; a state of second glancing.
