Within my practice I question the boundaries between conventional drawing and sculpture. Heavily inspired by science fiction, modern architecture, contemporary society and its relationship with the natural landscape; I am fascinated by notions of escapism, fragmentation and disorientation. Presenting sculptural pieces alongside intricate free-hand and line illustrations my work focuses on the deconstruction and reconstruction of form; a metamorphosis from literal to abstract.
My multimedia practice currently studies the visual relationship between natural and man-made elements; exploring the parallel amid the fluidity and angular structures present in modern urban and rural landscapes. Paper and card, being manufactured from natural sources, has become a characteristic material within my work; both the surface in which I create my illustrations and the foundation of my sculpture.
